June is here and summer is literally around the corner. Kebabs and skewers just seem to scream “summer vibes” so I decided to create an air fryer friendly skewer recipe for you to try. I called them fiesta skewers because they are truly a party in your mouth and made with southwest seasonings like chili powder and cumin.
Use these skewers over a salad , as a meal prep main dish , or even as a quick summer gathering appetizer

What to serve with these Air fried chicken skewers
I served this over a fresh summer salad but here are a few suggestions that will pair very well with them:
- White rice
- Cucumber and tomato salad
- Corn on the cob
- Corn pudding
- Mashed Sweet Potatoes
- Grilled fruits
- Potato salad

Recipe variation
- Add more nutritious value to your chicken kebabs by adding vegetables like bell peppers and onions to your skewers.
- Treat your guests to sweet and sour chicken skewers by adding pineapple to your kabobs. Roasted pineapples will take your kebabs to the next level.
- Make it spicy by adding jalapeno peppers or crushed chilli peppers to the seasoning mixture.
Storage and reheating
- Put your leftover chicken skewers in an airtight container to keep in the fridge for 3 days to 5 days.
- Put them in a ziplock bag to store in the freezer for up to 4 months. You would want to double up wrapping it with cling wrap before it goes into the ziplock bag. This is to protect against freezer burn.
To reheat
- Put your air-fried kebabs back into the air fryer and reheat them at the same cooking temperature for up to 5 minutes. If you have any marinade left you may baste them with it before reheating so they don’t end up dry
Recipe tips
Soak the skewers in water before using them. This is to avoid any chance of it causing a fire.
Cut your chicken into equal sizes so that it cooks evenly.
Do not stack up the air fryer basket rather cook in batches.
FAQ
Can I use metal skewers for this recipe?
Yes, you can use metal skewers in the air fryer but you need to be careful as they will get super hot for you to touch with your hands.
Can I prepare this ahead of time?
You can season your chicken and put it on the skewers then put it in the fridge or freezer. The air fryer is well known for cooking frozen food way better than any kitchen tola out there.
How long should I cook the kabobs in the air fryer?
Your kabobs will be cooked for around 15 minutes at 360 degrees. This also depends from one air fryer to the next due to the difference in the make and sizes of air fryers. Please monitor your kebabs as you air fry them so they don’t end up burning
