My recipe for Caribbean inspired Sazon baked chicken leg quarters is easy and delicious! Chile, if you have a pack of leg quarters in the freezer or if you want an idea for some chicken leg quarters that you are planning to buy, I got you covered.

I grew up in South Florida and was blessed to have local Puerto Rican and Dominican restaurants that served the most delish meals that were cooked with Sazon. I visited Puerto Rico and fell in love with the rice and meats that were so perfectly seasoned. This is my top tier version of Sazon baked chicken.

I loved serving this baked chicken with a nice side salad and pigeon peas and rice.

The type of Sazon that I used for this recipe is Sazón with Coriander & Annatto. Sazon gives the chicken a pretty color and this recipe will be something that you get asked to make many times.

What is sazon? Sazon is a seasoning mixture that adds color and flavor to many dishes. It is a must have ingredient in many Puerto Rican and Dominican cuisines.

Can I use this recipe on other pieces of chicken other than leg quarters ? You can use this recipe on any parts of the chicken, I recommend reducing the cook time if you are using white meat (wings or breast).

How long do I bake sazon leg quarters ? You can bake these sazon leg quarters for 1 hour – 1 hour and 10 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees

Shopping list

4 pound chicken leg quarters

Adobo all purpose seasoning

Badia complete seasoning

Ground black pepper

Garlic powder

Onion powder

Paprika

Oregano

Thyme

2 sazon packets

Fresh lemon or lime juice

Garlic paste

Extra virgin olive oil

Sofrito (optional)

Mix all of the ingredients into a paste
Add the seasoning mixture to the chicken
Rub the seasoning mixture well into the chicken until every piece is evenly coated and marinate for at least 2-4 hours
Place seasoned chicken in a deep, oven safe dish and bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour – 1 hour and 10 minutes
Baste your chicken in the pan juices every 20 minutes
Top Tier Sazón Baked Chicken Leg Quarters

Ingredients

4 pound chicken leg quarters .cleaned and pat dry

1 teaspoon adobo all purpose seasoning

1 teaspoons Badia complete seasoning

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon oregano

1/2 teaspoon thyme

2 sazon packets

1 tablespoon fresh lemon or lime juice

1 tablespoon garlic paste

4 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoon Sofrito (optional)

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2.In a bowl, combine all purpose seasoning, complete seasoning, ground black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, thyme, 2 Sazon packets, fresh lemon or lime juice, garlic paste, extra virgin olive oil, and sofrito (optional)

3.Spoon the seasoning mixture over the leg quarters and rub the chicken so that the seasoning is evenly distributed (make sure you also get the seasoning under the skin of the chicken)

4.Let the seasoned chicken marinate for 2-4 hours

5.Place the seasoned chicken in a large, deep baking dish and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes , or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees (baste the chicken with the pan juices every 20 minutes)

6.Remove the chicken from the oven and baste it a final time.

7.Serve and enjoy!
