Some recipes will always be the main character of holidays and family dinners—and southern style baked macaroni & cheese is absolutely one of them.
Back in 2019, I released my original Southern baked macaroni and cheese recipe, and ever since then y’all have been making it, serving it, sharing it…and letting me know how much y’all love it.
But this year? We’re adding a little more pizazz to the OG recipe.
Introducing the 2025 Glam Kitchen Creamy Baked Macaroni & Cheese—No Roux Edition. I took everything you loved about the original and made it creamier and richer.
My no-roux baked macaroni and cheese delivers all the comfort without any of the extra steps. No whisking flour, no babysitting a roux—just creamy, decadent, Southern-style baked macaroni every single time.
What’s different? – a different cheese has been added in, as well as more liquid , sour cream, and less butter.
I can’t wait to hear what yall think! As always, please let me know how it came out of you ! Enjoy !

Shopping List

Heavy cream
Half n half
Unsalted butter
Eggs
Sour cream (I used the Daisy brand)
Seasoned salt (I used Lawry’s reduced sodium seasoned salt)
Garlic powder
Ground black pepper
Colby Jack cheese (I prefer Tillamook and Kraft brands for my cheeses)
Triple Cheddar cheese
Mild or Sharp cheddar cheese

Glam Kitchen Tips
- Make sure you use unsalted butter- do not use margarine and do not use salted butter. If you only have salted butter on hand, please reduce the amount of seasoning that you use. We want this well flavored and not salty .
- I recommend making this in 2 half foil pans or 1 large deep baking dish that is 13×9

In a large bowl—or right in the same pot you cooked the pasta—add the drained noodles and melted butter, then stir until every noodle is coated with butter

Add heavy cream, half and half, beaten eggs, and sour cream.Stir until fully combined

Season with seasoned salt, garlic powder, and black pepper, then mix until the seasonings are evenly distributed

Add 16 ounces of Colby Jack cheese and 16 ounces of triple cheddar cheese, stirring until everything is well combined

Grease a baking dish with butter (or spray with non stick spray)

Pour in macaroni mixture

Sprinkle remaining 16 ounces of sharp or medium cheddar cheese evenly over the top

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the pasta is bubbly and the top is golden.Remove from oven and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve and enjoy!
