There is something about candied yams that screams “the holidays are here”. This recipe is my spin on that comfort food classic. Warning , this is going to be your new favorite go to recipe for sweet potatoes. It is absolutely delish.
My recipe requires that you parboil the potatoes about 10-12 minutes before cooking them. My recipe also allows you to not have to use foil and you still get a beautiful color on the sweet potatoes.

Glam Kitchen Tips
– Do not slice the sweet potatoes thin, they should be at least 1/2 inch thick
-Do not use margarine , use real butter



Serves 6
Ingredients
3 pound sweet potatoes , peeled and cut into 1/2 inch slices
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 stick salted butter
1/3 cup pineapple juice
Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2.Boil a large deep pot of water
3.Add sweet potatoes and boil for 10-12 minutes
4.Remove from heat and drain sweet potatoes , then set aside
5.In a large deep skillet melt butter
6.Add brown sugar, white sugar , ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pineapple juice
7.Stir well and allow it to simmer for 5 minutes while stirring
8.Remove from heat
9.In a deep baking dish , spray non stick spray and add sweet potatoes
10.Pour pineapple ginger mixture over sweet potatoes
11.Bake for 45 minutes , basting the potatoes every 10-15 minutes in the sauce
12.Remove from heat
13. Serve and enjoy !
