The majority of the time there is always the breast portion of the cornish hen that’s left over, you can easily shred the chicken and use it for your tacos and quesadillas fillings.

      Are cornish hens baby chickens?

Cornish hens are slaughtered at an early stage when they are about a pound or two, if they are given more time they can grow into fully grown birds.

Do you cover cornish hen when baking?

You don’t have to cover your cornish hen when baking, it will help the skin to be crispy and golden brown.

The USDA and FSIS recommend that a cooked chicken should be at 165 F internal temperature on the thickest portion to be safe to consume.

You will need to keep basting the birds throughout the cooking process, ideally at 20-minute intervals.

Due to their small size, they are often served as whole chicken to meat lovers but it’s also very common to be cut in half.

Should cornish hens be rinsed before cooking?

Raw chicken carries sickness-causing bacteria like Salmonella and Campylobacter hence it is always safe to rinse it before cooking it. I rinse my cornish hen with cold water with a squeeze of fresh lemon
