Buttermilk Fried Shrimp

Ingredients
  

  • 1  pound extra large shrimp ( I used 16/20 size), cleaned then deveined with shell off and tails on
  • 1/3 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp Your favorite Louisiana hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp Black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Corn meal
  •  Vegetable or canola oil

  • Deep fryer

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, add cleaned shrimp
  2. Mix together buttermilk and Louisiana hot sauce , then pour it over the shrimp
  3. Mix the shrimp and buttermilk well so that all the shrimp are coated with the mixture- then let it sit for 3-5 minutes
  4. In a large resealable bag , add the flour and cornmeal -then season it with your favorite Cajun seasoning , garlic powder, onion powder, and ground black pepper
  5. Seal the bag and shake the bag well until everything is evenly distributed
  6. Heat your deep fryer or large pot of oil
  7. Add the shrimp to the resealable bag and shake well until all the shrimp are coated well
  8. Deep fry the shrimp for 3-5 minutes each batch-or until golden
  9. Drain on a wire bakers rack (you can also use paper towel if you don’t have one )
  10. Serve and enjoy !!
